Ready-Mixed Concrete, Asphalt Paving, Road Base: City of Aztec Multiple Streets Improvement Project

July 22, 2015

Project Owner: City of Aztec
General Contractor: Four Corners Materials
Location: Aztec, New Mexico
Completion Date: September 2011
Four Corners Materials completed reconstruction and sidewalk/curb and gutter improvements to three municipal streets in downtown Aztec, New Mexico. The existing roadway was removed by cold milling, the subgrade was reshaped and compacted and new base course and asphalt pavement were placed. Additionally, the concrete sidewalks and curb and gutter adjoining the roadway were removed and reconstructed.
The project was sensitive due to the many historic houses on the roadways. The nature of the construction on this project necessitated that work be performed in close proximity to many houses. Four Corners Materials’ superintendent arrived on the project a week before construction start and personally met all of the impacted residents, informing them of the upcoming construction and what to expect with regard to phasing and impact. The impacted residents appreciated this proactive approach and sent a thank you note, saying:
“My husband and I would like to thank you and the city for the sidewalk and street repairs that were done this summer along Church and Zia streets. I walk everyday in this beautiful city, and it has been wonderful to have sidewalks along the busy streets of Church and Zia. My compliments also go to the construction companies who did the work. They were courteous, friendly, and always aware of the resident’s concerns along the two streets that were under construction. This project is just another reason why we are so proud to be residents of Aztec! Thank you all!”
